The Academy welcomes you and looks forward to providing information about the American Academy’s certification.

The American Academy is now recognized to certify alcohol and other drug counselors in California. The State of California Alcohol and Drug Program has determined that the Certified Addiction Specialist certification, offered by the American Academy of Health Care Providers in the Addictive Disorders, meets the requirements specified in CCR Title 9, Chapter 8.

Your first step is to complete the California AOD Certification Registration.

• You will be asked to put in a username and password (if you have one) or to register with our site;
• You may then complete the California AOD Certification Registration to register with the American Academy. An explanation of what it means to register is found on the registration page;
• You will then be directed to the CAS Application Packet.
